Pussy Fletcher (89) has passed away in a care home in Gargrave today (Sunday 14th June). Bill was a stalwart of KLRUFC, Player, Touchjudge, Committee Member for many years and was best known by those who Played and Supported  the Club in the 60’s and 70’s for his post match rendition of Eskimo Nell and his repertoire of Rugby Songs, little heard in todays Rugby Scene.

Bill’s family farmed at Cowan Bridge and Bill worked for Carrs Animal Feeds in the Penrith area. When the family farm was sold his Mother moved to Skipton and Batchelor Bill would come down from Penrith on Saturday morning to meet up with the Rugby Team, spend many hours at the Club and then drive home to Skipton late Saturday night, arriving back in Kirkby to have a few pints on Sunday night in the Sun Inn before driving back to his digs in Penrith to resume work on Monday morning. These of course were the days before the Breathalyser !.
